The views of patients and their families are very important in health care today. When we look at health care from the perspective of patients and their families, we can make their experiences better. Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll (AHI) and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) believe in focusing on patients and their families. They are working with Patient & Family Advisors, who are volunteers, to help plan services and improve the overall experience for patients.
Patient & Family Advisors
Patient and Family Advisors share their thoughts and ideas to make sure that the voices of patients and their families are heard. This helps improve programs, processes, and how care is given in the organization. Patient and Family Advisors can get involved in ways that fit their interests, experience, and schedules. The time they need to spend will change based on how much they want to be involved.
At AHI & TDMH, Patient and Family Advisors help in different ways, such as:
• Being members of important committees that meet regularly
• Joining in on hospital projects and focus groups
• Helping create educational materials for patients and families and collecting their feedback
• Participating in interviews to hire new staff
• Being active members of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee, which discusses important issues that affect patient care
• Conducting patient experience rounds to gather information about how care is going
Become a Patient & Family Advisor
