The Tillsonburg Volunteer Association and the forerunner Auxiliary, have been assisting Patient care and raising funds for the Hospital for over 96 years. Today, we have approximately 80 in-house Volunteers. We hope to start some weekend shifts as the demand for our services grows.
In the current fiscal year, we are expecting to achieve over 8,000 Volunteer hours. The last fiscal before co-vid 19, we had about 200 volunteers and the number of hours was 18,650. We hope to get back to level again soon.
Most of our volunteers are retirees. We have a Volunteen program starting up again for students (aged 15 to 19 years of age) We have some adults who are still working full or part time and we accommodate their schedules.
We are governed by a 10 person Board of Directors and most volunteer areas are led by a Volunteer Convener, who is responsible for training new volunteers, scheduling shifts and providing a link between the Volunteer, the Coordinator of Volunteers and the Volunteer Association Board.
