This program is in compliance with Accreditation Canada standard 4.3, each hospital must have a formal program to maintain team member’s competence that includes evaluating their theoretical and practical knowledge on transfusion services. The competency assessment program applies to all team members, including prescribing physicians.
This course consists of 2 modules (Indications for Transfusion and Transfusion Reactions) and has been accredited through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto for College of Family Physicians of Canada Mainpro+ (1 credit/hour) Self-Learning: 2.0 credits and Royal College Maintenance of Certification Section 1: 2.0 hours.
This online competency is intended for all ordering physicians. Once this program and quiz are successfully completed, recertification will only be required every 3 years.
