Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) and Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll (AHI) celebrated significant achievements over the past year at recent annual general meetings.
Ongoing learning and training for all team members are key elements to providing quality care. “AHI has created an Excellence in Collaborative Education Centre to support staff with their continuing education and training,” explained Sandy Jansen, President and CEO. “This dedicated space will offer educational opportunities through online learning modules, lectures, simulation and hands-on clinical skills stations.”
TDMH is pleased to have received the highest level of excellence award, Accreditation with Exemplary Standing, from Accreditation Canada. “Special note was made of our dedicated team, incredible volunteer program, committed patient advisors, as well as our supportive community and health care partners,” explained Cheryl Pfaff, Chief Quality and Safety Officer and VP Human Resources.
Other key achievements over the past year include the implementation of free wireless internet access for patients, families and guests, the launch of our new websites featuring a fresh new design and updated content as well as facility enhancements with AHI’s heating ventilation and air conditioning upgrades and TDMH’s LED lighting conversion.
“There has also been a renewed focus on Quality and Safety at both hospitals. One of our goals for the AHI and TDMH partnership is to set standards for the highest quality health care possible for community hospitals,” states Cheryl Buchner, TDMH Board Chair. “Improving overall communications between physicians, health care team members, patients and their families is critical to ensuring people are cared for safely and efficiently.”
“Although AHI and TDMH remain two separate corporations, we continue to work together to ensure our communities receive quality health care close to home,” commented Ian Blain, AHI Board Chair.
